Innovation Research Pays Off
Dr.
Cantrell is the Manager of Innovation Research at the NAHB
Research Center where he is 1) responsible for technology and
diffusion studies for new residential building technologies, 2)
Principal Investigator for the New Product Development Tools
website that is currently underway, 3) assists building product
manufacturers and industry associations in developing marketing
and distribution strategies for new products in new homes,
light commercial buildings, and remodeling, and 4) performs
statistical analysis for new product development research
projects. Dr. Cantrell currently has an appointment as an
Adjunct Research Professor with Virginia Tech's Center for
Housing Research where he 1) is responsible for developing
joint proposals and implementing research on technology
adoption and diffusion between Virginia Tech and the Research
Center and 2) advises Center faculty and students on research
and industry trends. Prior to his current position, Dr.
Cantrell was a researcher with the USDA Forest Service. He
received a PhD in Forest Products Marketing from the University
of Washington. His memberships include the Forest Products
Society, the Product Development & Management Association,
the Calvert County (MD) Agriculture Commission, and the
Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Dr. Cantrell also serves as a
reviewer for the Forest Products Journal and the Journal
of Forest Products
Business Research.
